March day

Hi all!
March 10th we had a snow storm, I went home early from work so I wouldn't get stuck in McVille. It was blowing pretty good, hard to see. We have recently bought a house in McVille so I won't be able to do that anymore. We should be able to be in the first week of April or so, we need to do some painting and put in some carpet. I can now go shopping for stuff we need, hopefully we can go furniture shopping next week. It will be nice not to have to drive anymore, on nice days I can just walk to work. So we are excited, although Mom isn't exactly happy about being alone again. Last weekend I was down to Marisa's to help her paint in their new home and Craig and I are going down this weekend to help them move. So we are happy they have a lot more room now. They are planning on doing some carpet, kitchen flooring and counter tops, so will be nice when they get it all done. Carson is 9 mo now so I enjoyed getting in some Grandma time! I don't know about the reunion yet, August is a busy time at the elevator for me and also for Doug. Take care! Mary

Spring is a ways off here in ND

Hi,
I just by chance checked the blog this evening and found a note from Amy. I am glad to hear you will be coming to the reunion and how fun to hear there is a new love in your life. Will he come along to the reunion?

I have heard of the great quilt shop in Mayville, I haven't been there but have heard good things.

We are a ways from Spring here in ND. another snow storm blowing it self through today and tomorrow. We will miss most of it but south of us will get hit hard again. Typical for March in ND.

Mark and I will be taking a trip to Texas next week to spend some time with Mom and Dad. We are looking foward to some warm temps.

We will head to Roseau this weekend to celebrate Max and Bryn's birthdays, They are 4and 2 this year!

We look forward to seeing all of you this summer!
Lori

Spring is around the corner!

Family-
I haven't seen any posts is so long, that I thought I would just say hello to everyone. I am excited to come to Big Rapids. I have never been to South Dakota, ever. I bought my flight last week, so I am secured to attend. On a side note, I went to a quilt show here in New Jersey yesterday and met a vendor from Mayville! He sold wide batiks for backing a quilt (108" wide), and those are hard to find. you could use it for whatever, but for backs it is perfect. He was great and very friendly, as I expected once I found out where he was from. He first said 'small town between Grand Forks and Fargo'...that was my queue:). I made a new friend, go figure. Of course, next time I visit the area, I am going to his place. Not sure when that will be, but its on the list anyway:)

My new information is that I am back with my college sweetheart (David Walsh) and he is in the process of moving from Holland MI to New Jersey. He is looking for a job as well, so will be a slow process (and selling a house in MI), but I will be happy when he gets here.

Putting a picture here of my dogs so that you can see Nikki and Levi are pretty settled. Nikki has finally gained back all her weight from being lost for a month back in August. She is doing great. Last week I was out looking for another lost german shepherd in my area, found one, but it wasn't the right one. It was yet another loose German Shepherd. No one has picked it up yet, its at the local shelter. hopefully it belongs to someone, its a young female.

Can't wait to see you all!
Amy

Nikki found!

After one month of being lost, someone caught my dog Nikki finally. She showed up at a dog kennel and hung out in the field next to him for 3 days before he could finally catch her. About 25 miles from my house. She is the luckiest dog around! See my other blog for more info: http://lostdognikki.blogspot.com/
I can't thank everyone enough for all your prayers. Along the way, I adopted another dog in need, Fritz, so I now have 3 german shepherds. Crazy, but we are all very happy.

Amy's dog Nikki is missing

Amy's dog Nikki is missing & it can't hurt to have the Lusty family saying a few prayers for Amy & Nikki. While Amy was home visiting all of us in Michigan last week, Nikki ran away from Amy's home in New Jersey & has now been "on her own" since Tuesday. Even Kari drove home with Amy to help look for Nikki last Wednesday. Kari has now returned to Michigan and Amy continues to do all in her power to find her. A few sights have been at a golf course over 3 miles away from her home, so we hold on to hope that Nikki will still be caught. Amy had to go back to work today and Amy is at her lowest, plus we are all in Michigan & can't hug her. Please pray Amy has the strength and faith to continue this long journey of finding Nikki.
Love you all
Sherri

Family is wonderful!

What a wonderful time we had visiting Dawn and Greg in Denver! Mark and I planned to meet Mom and Dad in Colorado the end of July, then Val and boys decided to make a flying trip to CO while Phil was in Nevada for a training and to top it all off Kari and Dan Roy and kids flew into Denver for a wedding. We were able to get everyone together and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Dawn and Greg's beautiful home. Make us all look forward to the family reunion next summer when we can all be together!

Trip to London!

In late June this year my work brought me to London. What a fun trip it was, both work-wise and when Melissa Loveday, nee Barnard (branch Gene), and I were able to meet up for dinner. We ate at an Indian restaurant, which was really good. Those flavors! A whole new set of tastes to explore, what fun! This picture was taken in front of the beautiful Tower Bridge, crossing the river Thames. Was great catching up on family news and things that have been going on for Melissa and Paul living in London.

I traveled with my boss and we had a little bit of time to go see some sites, including the Museum of London, which was absolutely fascinating. Learned a lot about how London got its start by conqueror after conqueror, then finally by the Romans. Their rule stuck the longest.

They back in the early days of London, Londinium then, the Romans built a fortification around the entire city to defend against invaders. With excellent historical sensibilities, the Brits have gone out of their way to preserve the surviving pieces of this wall. You see little bits of it all around down town. Fantastic!

Another highlight was when we went to see the Stomp! show. If any of you ever get a chance to go see this show, do it! They have troupes touring the world.

The exchange rate isn't so good for Americans but it sure was a fun and fascinating time. Thank you Melissa for explaining many of the British ways and sensibilities to me during our meal. That helped me "get" quite a few things about interacting with the locals.

I was well chuffed with the trip overall.
